An artist from New York City, Leeann Cadiz-Crispino’s work has always strived to express the interconnectedness of the life she lives: the struggle, survival and hope of it all. Her busy, colorful designs and obsession with lines has become one of her staple features in her works of art. She believes it shows her true New York roots and the bold rhythm of the city. In contrast, her roots in Puerto Rico portray the calm nature of the island. She often includes plants and animals in her pieces, something she admits comes about unconsciously at times but always shows up in unexpected ways.

As a Middle School Art Teacher in Harlem, Leeann teaches her students the techniques and approaches she uses in art creation. Her work with The Metropolitan Museum of Art in their Professional Learning Community has helped her expose her students to works of art from around the globe and has greatly impacted her own practice.

Currently, Leeann will be exhibiting her work at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) at the Art of The Educator show opening on March 10th, 2025.
